Japan & China 2019
In July 2019 I attended the ICPIG conference in Sapporo. Afterwards we made a round trip over Hokkaido,
past Lake Toya, Hell Valley in Noboribetsu, the coast of the Shakotan peninsula and Otaru.
Then we flew via Beijing to Xi'an, where I gave a lecture at Xi'an Jiaotong University.
In Xi'an we visited the Terracotta Army, the city wall and Tang Paradise. By train we continued to Luoyang,
with the Buddha statues of the Longmen Grottoes and the chariot museum, and then to Beijing: the Forbidden City,
Jingshan, Beihai Park, the Temple of Heaven, the Confucius Temple, the Lama Temple, Tiananmen Square and the zoo.
