Indonesia 2015

Komodo dragon Orangutan with young

In June and July 2015 Roxana and I went on our honeymoon: more than three weeks through Indonesia. We started on Bali, in the hills near Ubud, with the Monkey Forest, the temples Pura Luhur Batukaru, Pura Ulun Danu Bratan and Pura Ulun Danu Batur, and the rice terraces of Jatiluwih. Then we flew to Labuan Bajo on Flores for three days of diving in Komodo National Park from Scuba Junkie Komodo, and a walk among the Komodo dragons on Rinca. Back on Bali we visited Sanur and the temple Pura Taman Ayun, and took the ferry from Gilimanuk to Java. There we saw the savanna of Baluran National Park, the volcanoes Bromo and Semeru at sunset and sunrise, and the Kraton of Yogyakarta and Borobudur. The last part of the trip was on Sumatra: the orangutans in the rainforest near Bukit Lawang, the Sipiso-piso waterfall and the island of Samosir in Lake Toba, with its Batak villages.
An overview of our photos of this trip can be found here.

Of course we also went diving: in seven dives in Komodo NP we saw, among others, whitetip reef sharks, green turtles, an Eschmeyer's scorpionfish and a ribbon eel; the underwater photos are also on a page of their own.

Below is a map with our route; tick the box to see the photo locations as well.
