Iceland 2024

Northern lights Strokkur

At the end of March 2024 we spent a week driving through the west and south of Iceland. We started in Reykjavik, where we saw the northern lights in the evening. Then we drove to the Snæfellsnes peninsula, with Arnarstapi, Hellnar, the basalt rocks of Lóndrangar, the Svörtuloft cliffs and Kirkjufell. Back near Reykjavik we visited Þingvellir and went whale watching in Faxaflói, where we saw the smoke of the volcanic eruption on Reykjanes in the distance. Then came the Golden Circle with Geysir, Gullfoss and Kerið, the south coast with Skógafoss, Sólheimajökull, Vík, Dyrhólaey and Seljalandsfoss, and finally the hot springs of Seltún on Reykjanes.
